#CASCADE: Prime valutazioni sulla qualità delle previsioni COPERNICUS Marine.

Nel progetto INTERREG IT-HR CASCADE [1] [2], ARPA FVG (PP4) ha iniziato la valutazione della qualità delle previsioni sullo stato del mare, fornite dal servizio Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS) [3], impiegando le misure acquisite in situ nell’area pilota del progetto.

I dati forniti dal CMEMS sono stati post elaborati tramite applicativi e software per la visualizzazione, come NCAR Command Language (NCL) [4] e Generic Mapping Tools (GMT) [5].

Dal confronto dei diagrammi TS si osserva come le previsioni tendono a sottostimare le temperature in profondità mentre risultano più accurate in superficie.

Le previsioni delle direzioni delle correnti marine superficiali sono congruenti con le misure, mentre il modulo della velocità è compatibile entro un errore di 2.5 cm/s e di circa 15 cm/s nei casi considerati.

In the INTERREG IT-HR CASCADE [1] [2] project, ARPA FVG (PP4) started the sea state forecasts quality evaluation, which are provided by the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS) [3], using the in situ measurements collected in the project Pilot Area.

The data provided by the CMEMS were post processed by means of software for data visualization namely NCAR Command Language (NCL) [4] and Generic Mapping Tools (GMT) [5].

From the comparison of the TS diagrams, it can be observed that the forecasts tend to underestimate the temperatures at great depths while they are more accurate for shallow waters.

Sea currents directions agree with the measurements while the velocity modulus is affected by an error of 2.5 cm/s and about 15 cm/s in considered cases.
